What happens when one twin dies during pregnancy?
My friend's sister is 6 weeks pregnant. They had learned by ultrasound that they were having twins. But then one of the twins died. I don't know all the exact specifics, as I wasn't there for the doctor's appointments. But in a case like this, what happens? Does the dead fetus just disintegrate in the womb? Do they have to somehow take it out? Can it cause an infection or problems for the surviving baby? Thanks.
